ASTM B280 Air Conditioning steel copperTube
ASTM B280 specifies requirements for seamless UNS C10200, C12000, or C12200 copper alloy air conditioning tubing for field connection, repair, or replacement of air conditioning or refrigeration equipment. Material shall be available in billet, bar, or tube form, hot or cold worked to produce a uniformly wrought structure. Each tube shall be cold drawn to final dimensions and wall thickness. Coils in the soft annealed condition shall be bright annealed after coiling, then dehydrated and capped, plugged, crimped, or otherwise sealed at both ends. Straight tubes in the hard drawn annealed condition shall be cleaned and capped, plugged, or otherwise sealed at both ends. Grain size, tensile properties, eddy current, and cleanliness test results shall conform to the values listed herein.
The main reasons for using copper tubes in air conditioning are as follows:
Resistant to high pressure and not prone to corrosion. Copper coils can withstand high pressures and are not prone to corrosion, thus ensuring the normal operation and long service life of the air conditioning system.
Good thermal conductivity. Copper alloy tubes have better thermal conductivity than aluminum tubes, which can improve the heat exchange efficiency of air conditioning systems, thereby enhancing the cooling or heating effect.
Welding performance and mechanical strength. Copper tubes have better welding performance and mechanical strength than aluminum tubes, making air conditioning systems more reliable and efficient.
Long service life. Due to its stability and durability, copper hoses have a longer service life than aluminum hoses and are suitable for long-term use.
