Four most widely used alloy steel pipe grades

here are many types of alloy steel tubes, but four of the most widely used grades are 12Cr1MoVG, A335 P91, A335 P22, and 15CrMoG. This article will provide a brief introduction to these four popular alloy steel pipe grades.

12Cr1MoVG Alloy Steel Pipe:

12Cr1MoVG alloy steel pipe is derived from high-quality carbon structural steel, with the addition of one or more alloying elements to enhance mechanical properties, toughness, and hardenability. Products made from this steel typically undergo heat treatment processes such as normalizing or quenching and tempering. Components may also undergo surface chemical treatments like carburizing, nitriding, or high-frequency quenching. Based on chemical composition (primarily carbon content), heat treatment processes, and applications, this steel can be categorized into carburizing, quenching and tempering, and nitriding steel.

A335 P91 Alloy Steel Pipe:

A335 P91 alloy steel pipe is a solid tube formed through perforation and rolling. It is widely used, primarily composed of ordinary carbon structural steel, low-alloy structural steel, or alloy structural steel. These pipes are mostly used for conveying fluids or as structural components, making them highly versatile.

A335 P22 Alloy Steel Pipe:

A335 P22 alloy steel pipe is a standard for seamless steel pipes. It shares the same material properties as UNS 21950 but differs in processing methods. The manufacturing process involves steps such as heating, perforation, annealing, pickling, oiling (copper coating), multi-pass cold drawing, billet formation, heat treatment, straightening, hydrostatic testing, marking, and storage.

15CrMoG Alloy Steel Pipe:

Specifications for 15CrMoG alloy steel pipe range from 8-1240x1-200mm. These pipes are primarily used for low and medium-pressure boilers (working pressure generally not exceeding 5.88 MPa and working temperature below 450°C) as heating surface pipes. They are also used in high-pressure boilers (working pressure typically above 9.8 MPa and working temperature between 450°C and 650°C) for heating surfaces, economizers, superheaters, reheaters, and in the petrochemical industry.

These alloy steel pipes are integral to various industrial applications due to their enhanced mechanical properties and suitability for high-pressure and high-temperature environments.
