Low finned tubes (integral finned tubes)
"Low finned tubes" are also known as integral finned tubes. This finned tube is widely used in today's industry.
Low finned tubes/integral finned tubes are increasingly used in various fluid heat exchangers. Unlike other finned tubes, its application is not limited to gas-liquid type heat exchangers. Therefore, they are also used in various types of shell and tube heat exchangers.
Fins are made by rolling fins onto a base tube. The fin height is relatively very low. However, the number of fins per inch, or fin density, can be greatly increased and the heat transfer area improved. Lamination is done on special machines, also available in straight and U configurations.
These finned tubes can be used in oil coolers, shell and tube heat exchangers, etc.
Features of low finned tube or integral finned tube:-
Manufacturing process: - Cold rolled fins on the base tube itself.
Combination of fins and tubes:- NA f (fins are made from the same base tube)
Heat transfer efficiency: - Good
Mechanical resistance: - Good
Corrosion protection: – Moderate
Temperature range: - Up to 415 degrees Celsius
