The alloy has excellent corrosion resistance to most corrosive media in both oxidized and reduced states. Excellent corrosion resistance to pitting corrosion, crack corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. Alloys are suitable for various chemical processing industries containing oxidizing and reducing media. The high content of molybdenum and chromium make the alloy resistant to chloride ions, further improving the corrosion resistance of tungsten. Hastelloyc-276 is one of the few materials resistant to corrosion by chlorine, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions.
