AWWA C213 Fusion Bonded Epoxy Lined Steel Water Pipe
AWWA C213 Fusion Bonded Epoxy Lined Steel Water Service Pipe is designed to provide superior corrosion protection and long service life for water distribution systems. This American Water Works Association (AWWA) specification sets the standard for epoxy coatings and linings for steel pipe, ensuring a strong barrier to prevent corrosion inside and outside the pipe. The fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) coating process creates a seamless, durable coating that adheres tightly to the pipe surface, protecting it from chemical and environmental damage. AWWA C213 coated and lined steel water pipe is ideal for drinking water systems, wastewater treatment plants, and other water infrastructure projects to ensure safe and efficient water supply. With excellent resistance to abrasion, impact, and harsh environmental conditions, these pipes meet stringent quality and performance standards, making them a reliable choice for long-term water management solutions.
FBE coated pipe manufacturers produce pipes with fusion bonded epoxy coatings. Reliable Pipes Tubes Ltd. is one of the leading FBE coated pipe manufacturers. The epoxy coating is fusion bonded to the pipe surface. To make this process go smoothly, the pipe is first blast cleaned. This can be done by soda blasting or sand blasting. Other abrasives are also used in blast cleaning. FBE coated pipe is first electrostatically coated with epoxy to form an epoxy layer. A polyester coating is then applied over the epoxy coating to prevent the epoxy from flaking off the pipe.
The type of epoxy and polyester coating required varies for different pipe types and applications. Fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) coated pipes have a higher initial installation cost, but can reduce the number of replacements by protecting the pipe from corrosion and damage. Pipes last longer and are not damaged by corrosion caused by UV rays, tap water and atmospheric gases. Therefore, fusion bonded epoxy (FBE) coatings are suitable for offshore, onshore, chemical, civil and commercial applications that require longer service life and less maintenance. Fusion bonded epoxy coatings are suitable for steel pipes from 25 mm to 3000 mm in diameter. The coating has excellent resistance to corrosion, cathodic disbonding and chemicals. Once applied and cured, the epoxy film surface is extremely hard and has excellent adhesion to the steel surface. In addition to the chemical and adhesive properties of the epoxy powder, the polyethylene coating system also provides physical and mechanical advantages. FBE anti-slip coating systems provide a rough, non-slip surface for pipes that are subsequently concrete coated.
